Candace Erickson "Candy" Briggs
On September 16, 2018 Pine Point lost a cherished friend with the unexpected passing of Candy Briggs. Candy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter, on April 11, 2016. They were quite a team.
In the fall of 1997, their daughter, Bailey ’04, joined the third grade at Pine Point. Over the next seven years, individually and as a couple, they were involved in a multitude of activities ranging from board work to driving to innumerable athletic games. They were great volunteers. In 2004, in recognition of their devoted service, they were honored with the Steven M. Castle Distinguished Service Award. It is the only award the School gives out to volunteers. (Only three other times in the 29 years that the Castle Award has been presented has it gone to a couple.) Long after Bailey graduated, they remained wonderful cheerleaders and advocates for Pine Point. In fact, Candy was part of the Evergreen program last year and had stopped by the School in August to reconfirm her intention to again lend a hand, with Evergreen and in the library.
On the passing of Peter, the family established The Peter Briggs Fund, which supports the School’s scholarship efforts. That fund now also bears Candy’s name. The family has asked that in memoriam gifts be directed to The Peter and Candy Briggs Fund at Pine Point.
